Playgrounds in Quarteira, Algarve

Updated: Jan 11, 2022

The town is really child friendly, everywhere we went we always found so activities for our daughter. She is 7, loves to play and have fun.

This is the “Pirate ship” playground, the closest to our apartment. Literally 1 minute walk. A pirate-themed playground is a great way to teach young children aspects of history. Without kids even realising you’re teaching and their learning. Pirates are an exciting and swashbuckling part of history. Play pirate ships allow kids to not only learn about pirates but allow the history of pirates to come alive. Here are some of the incredible ways pirate ships will engage young children with learning.

In Portuguese history, ships & pirate ships were significant to discover Brasil. The Portuguese explorers were responsible for discovering more than 70% of the world previously unknown to Europeans.

Until your child is playing and exploring you can enjoy the sunshine and the blue ocean.

This is the bigger playground around 5 minutes walk from our apartment, walk towards the Praia Azul and when you get to the sea side walkway turn left, walk until the bridge, the playground is on the left side of the bridge.

We love this playground as we could enjoy an espresso, we could get water or use the bathroom as there is a coffee shop/restaurant adjoining the playground. Here our daughter found her favourite monkey bars, the swing, slide. This playground is suitable for all ages, as there are smaller play equipment's and bigger ones also. The sunset is stunning from here.

This playground is part of a restaurant, I believe we paid to use the equipment and the ice skates, it was really fun to ice skate in 20 degrees. The ice rink is made up of plastic ice, were imported from the USA, hockey teams use this kind of ice rinks to practice over the summer.

There is a swimming pool you can use it in the summer, we were there in December even though it was 20C, we did not feel the need to use the pool.

There are the play equipment also, which has the monkey bars, leaders to climb up and down, the swing, also the sensory stairs, which contained shells, stones, golf balls. In top of that was the bouncy castle, full working restaurant and bar. Well worth the money we spent to use the place. We spent the whole day there, had delicious burgers, calamaries and prawns. You can find the on Instagram @nicepark.algarve for directions and the opening times.
